2: Create your own Project

3: Load your project online somewhere and mention who on my design team inspired you

Now, on to the inspiration!  My card this week features the Welcome Christmas Stamp set, and a vintage-ey feel.

The main image is embossed in Black, and I’ve distressed the edges of the Beau Chateau DSP.  The embossed black card stock panel is spritzed with Vanilla Smooch Spritz.

Next up we have this lovely card from Gail:

Sarah’s card is soft and pretty:

Leonie’s card makes me think of winter back home….

Bridget brought back some memories with the retired Sweet & Sour DSP….love it!

Last and certainly not least is my friend Tracey Eaton, who has used an old favourite in the Jolly Holiday DSP:

Well there you have it, this weeks helping of inspiration!  I hope you find something here that sparks your mojo and you create and share something wonderful for us all to see!   When you get your creation uploaded, just click on the little frog below to link it up as we ALL want to know who has played along!  Happy Stamping Everyone!

This card was a fun colour scheme to work with.  It was my challenge for this, and all my Christmas card classes to come up with non-traditional colour combinations, and use different stamps on each card so at the class everyone can have their own basket of supplies, for the most part.  Some of the punches end up getting shared, but otherwise everyone gets their own basket to work with.  I went looking in the Simply Scrappin Kits for some different colours and found this great DSP in the Tickets and Tags kit:

The colours here are Poppy Parade, Baja Breeze, Basic Grey and Very Vanilla.  I’ve also stamped the same image on Baja Breeze and Poppy Parade and punched them out to highlight parts of the card.  I love this one!

Here’s another one I designed myself, in traditional colours, using traditional Christmas papers too.  Sometimes you just have to stick with what you know.  I love the Season of Joy stamp set, and this Jolly Holiday DSP.  It goes so well together!

I’ve inked the greeting stamp with markers, and stamped it onto Early Espresso, and stamped the swirls onto the base card.  Add a strip of DSP and a scalloped border and your card is done!

Yesterday I hosted a class teaching different ways to use Shimmer Paint.  Did you know that (so far) I know 9 ways to use it!  It’s very versatile, and I actually use it alot!  It gives my projects just that extra bit of wow!  Here are the sample cards that I had at my class yesterday.  Each one showcases a different technique, though not all 9 are shown.  Frost White and Champagne Mist are translucent, and great for highlighting, while Platinum is opaque and can be used on it’s own.

1: Tinted Shimmer Paint (with reinkers)

2. Apply Direct to Stamp

3. Overwashing a stamped image with Translucent Paint

4) Painting a line-art image with Tinted Shimmer Paint

5. Shimmer Paint applied to the edges of an inked stamp

6. Shimmer Paint mixed with Crystal Effects (on flowers)

Since so many products are used on these 6 cards, I’m going to leave off the Project Recipes.  If you have any questions about what was used, or how I did it, please leave a comment.  Make sure you put some shimmer paint on your next order.  A little goes a long way, and everyone should have some!

The second set of cards that I’ve made to showcase “Stepping it up” uses the Season of Joy Stamp set, and the Jolly Holiday DSP.  I have gone through more packs of this paper than I’ll care to admit, and it’s only November.  I see a few more coming my way before the year is out!

In the more involved version of this card, I added the Old Olive Satin ribbon, the jewels on the tree and the tag, and I “hung” the tag off the ribbon with Linen thread. I also used the border punch on the bottom edge of the DSP.  I got a bit carried away with the jewels across the top I think.  I should have quit while I was ahead….:)

Project Recipe:

Papers: Cherry Cobbler, Jolly Holiday DSP, Whisper White

Stamps: Season of Joy, Perfect Punches

Ink: Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler

Accessories: Scallop Trim Border Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Basic Jewels, Dimensionals, Linen Thread, Old Olive Satin Ribbon

I thank you all for sticking with me for the past 10 days to see all these cards that were made at my Christmas Card class.  I’m happy to say that this is the LAST ONE, and I promise not to post Christmas cards for at least a few days now.  In fact, with Halloween just around the corner, I might just have to whip up some spooky creations for you!  This last card uses the Season of Joy stamp set, and the Jolly Holiday DSP papers.  Colours used here are Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Very Vanilla.  This also uses the scrumptious satin ribbons!

Yesterday, I taught my very first Kids Class.  I have tried many times to get one of these off the ground, and have had no luck getting enough kids interested.  I even placed a notice in the school office, and in my daughter’s class and had no takers.  I gave up at that point, thinking that there just wasn’t enough crafty kids around town.  A couple weeks ago, I was at a workshop that had several 10-12 year olds there with their moms.  They asked if I did kids classes and that was my in!  The kids made a birthday card and a Christmas card.  Since I have one boy coming, I had to do a boy version of the birthday card as well.  Here’s what was on the table yesterday:

Project Recipe:

Papers: Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Nursery Suite DSP

Stamps: Extreme Elements, Extreme Guitar, Word Play

Ink: Versamark, Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Certainly Celery, So Saffron

Accessories: Large Star Punch, Small Star Punch (retired), Subtles Brads, Dimensionals

Project Recipe:

Papers: Bashful Blue, Real Red, Pacific Point, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, Celebrations DSP

Stamps: Extreme Elements, Extreme Guitar, Word Play

Ink: Real Red, Pacific Point, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue

Accessories: Large Star Punch, Small Star Punch (retired), Dimensionals, Neutrals Brads

This Christmas card is not exactly how the kids made theirs, but I didn’t get a good photo of it.  The differences in the ones the kids made is, it has a torn edge rather than a punched edge, and I have left the ribbon off.  Everything else is the same.

Project Recipe:

Papers: Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Jolly Holiday DSP

Stamps: Season of Joy

Ink: Basic Black, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Cherry Cobbler Marker, Daffodil Delight Marker

Canada Goodies

I know I don’t often do two posts in one day, but I wanted to share with you these little bags of goodies that I took to the school today.  After a MUCH ANTICIPATED (read 9 week on a slow boat!) package from Canada, sent by my very best friend, these little bags of goodies were ready to go.  The kids and I assembled them on the weekend.  I had the bag toppers made several weeks ago, in anticipation of them arriving much sooner.  The Maple Leaf Stamps were kindly sent to me by the very generous Heather Summers, since we don’t have that stamp set here.  It just made the whole package to have that Maple Leaf on them don’t you think!?!?!

I made up 20 of them for Graham’s class and 30 for Emma’s class.  They were very well received in both classes.  The kids of course didn’t care that Canada Day was 6 weeks ago, they just loved getting the goodies!
