I had some stamping time on the weekend so I went looking for some challenges.  I found this past colour challenge on Dynamic Duos, and as much as I NEVER use Yellow, I challenged MYSELF to choose this one.

Another challenge to myself was to make a Sympathy Card with this colour combo.  It’s not for anyone in particular, but they are always good to have on hand.

I started with embossing the En Francais stamp in clear on the black background.  I resisted the urge to colour the leaves of the flower in Old Olive as the challenge states I can’t use anything other than a neutral and these two colours….the black button and yellow brads were the final touches.  I’m happy with how it turned out.

This is it!  It’s the FINAL Festive Friday Challenge!  I’ve had a great year designing these challenges, and for the few that have played along, I thank you for your participation!  I have, however, decided to stop running the challenges since I have had very few submissions all year long.  It’s a lot of work, not only for myself, but for my design team, and without submissions, then I just feel like it’s no longer energy I want to put towards it.  I hope you have all enjoyed the challenges for the past 50 weeks.  It’s time to pull the plug before Christmas and let everyone relax with their families over the holidays without the stress of deadlines or challenges to complete.

For the final challenge we have a Colour Challenge, in pretty traditional colours.

Colour Dec 21

Hi There,

Just popping in to announce this week’s winner for the Simply Scored product challenge.  I loved all the entries, but this simple card really stood out for me!  I love how it would be a great card to Mass Produce, and with only 10-15 cards left to complete my annual Christmas Card stash, I just might be stealing this idea by Tami.

Carolyn made a wreath and a window, and embossed some aluminium foil for the background:

Sharlene was inspired by the pile of gifts:

Tracey made a banner of pennants and an awesome glimmer snowflake:

Alison used the bowl of peppermints as inspiration and made an adorable peppermint that we saw demonstrated at Convention:

Now, for the inspiration!  My card this week followed the sketch pretty literally.  I used the Tree Trimmings ornament and the Letters to Santa DSP.  I’ve inked the ornament in Old Olive and with a marker, rubbed riding hood red around the edge to give it a bit more definition before stamping:

Madonna used the skater image from Winter Post:

Tina also used Tree Trimmings in a different colour scheme:

Brooke used the Apothecary Art set and some Non-Traditional colours, Concord Crush and Silver Glimmer paper:

Tanya used my favourite Dasher in black and Poppy Parade:

Kirsty used a large ornament from the Letters to Santa DSP as her focal point, and Blushing Bride, with the Merry & Type set:

There you have it, loads of inspiration using this week’s sketch!  Feel free to rotate it, flip it or modify it to suit your needs.  I can’t wait to see what you come up with!  Click the froggie below to link your entry.

I was given a colour challenge by Tracey Eaton which consisted of Soft Suede, Peach Parfait and Poppy Parade.  I was inspired by a card in the catalogue, and I just changed the colours to suit my challenge.  The coloured DSP is from a retired hostess pack from last year.  The other DSP is First Edition.  I first inked the daisies in Peach Parfait, then sponged Poppy Parade ink on the tips of the petals.

Hi Everyone!  This week is a Colour Challenge!  What a challenge it was too!  When I initially chose these colours, I didn’t think they looked too bad for a festive combination, but when I went to actually work with them, I hit a wall.  The card I came up with is not my favourite, but it fits the bill.  From all reports of the design team too, it was a difficult set of colours to work with for them as well.  That’s why it’s called a CHALLENGE!  If I put red and green out there I bet it would be easy for everyone!  Have a try with these colours and see what you can come up with!  You are also welcome to add white or vanilla to the combination too.

Enter more than one card if you get a chance, the more the merrier!  If you do not have a blog to post your card on, you can use a free photo hosting site like Photobucket, or just email me the photo and I’ll post it for you!  Jump in with both feet!  We’re going to have random prizes on some weeks too so you NEVER KNOW when you might be in the running for some stamping goodies too!!!  I’ve got to have at least 5 entries in a week before I’m going to offer up a prize though!  Now, lets get on to the details of the challenge….

Now, for the inspiration!  My card this week was ultra-simple.  I went literally with the Cajun Craze colour and made a gingerbread man.  The rest of the card came from that starting point.

Sarah made a beautiful Poinsettia with punches:

Alison used the Edgelits dies and lots of layers on her snowflake card:

Carolyn used the tree from Show Swirled:

Sharlene used the Merry & Type set on the First Edition DSP:

Tracey has used the Merry & Type set and the Postage Stamp Punch:
